GENERATION 1: Elijah Groom I (1757-1804 NC) and Catherine 'Catey' Herring (~1760-1814 GA)
Most Groom researchers believe that Elijah Groom is the same person as Elijah Croom, who served in the State Militia of North Carolina. Elijah married Catherine 'Caty' Herring (daughter/of Stephen Herring and Sarah Bright) in North Carolina in 1776. Between 1790 and 1800, Elijah and 'Catey' Croom/Groom moved to Georgia.

GENERATION 2: Children of Elijah Groom I (1757-1804 NC) and Catherine 'Catey' Herring (~1760-1814)
We believe that Charles belongs in the list of children of Elijah and 'Catey' Groom. It is believed that Charles was born about 1787 in Duplin County NC, married before 1807 in Duplin County NC, and died about 1851 in Wilcox AL. Charles Groom's wife Mary was born about 1790 and died about 1845 in Wilcox County AL.

Family Captains would maintain and share addresses of cousins in their branch and forward notices to their lists.
Family Captains would be or be in close contact with the primary branch researchers and the reunion committee.

Our lines descends from the children of Charles Groom and Mary [birth name unknown].

GENERATION 5: Great-great grandchildren of Elijah Groom I and 'Catey' (Herring) Groom's could have a giant reunion. Cuzzie Loma has entered over 600 descendants of her grandfather Needham York Groom into her database, and Cuzzie Betty (and her Dean cousins) have entered over 500 descendants of Needham's sister Indiana Cleopatra 'Innie' Groom Dean into their family tree databases. Cuzzie Carroll has entered over 300 names of descendants of N. Y. Groom's daughter Mary Groom Foster, and our Cuzzie Glenda has over 400 names of his son Bob's descendants in their databases. This is the beginning of fulfilling the vision of Groom/e/s Gatherings.
